Introduction

My name is Griffin DeLong and I am a 23-year-old MBA student at Tiffin University living in Knoxville, Tennessee. For my student mentorship. I will be working for a start-up venture for a company called Bacon & Company in Knoxville. Bacon & Company is the oldest standing company in Knoxville and has been in operation since 1925. The company has a very long-lasting and prominent history. Bacon & Company caters to retail dealers and corporate business with a dedication to quality and excellent customer service since 1925, Bacon and Company have always strived to achieve the highest level of customer satisfaction possible. I was asked by the president company, Jed Dance, to come in and help start-up a Facility Branding venture for the company to help service to its current business cliental. I have been working on this venture since December learning about the industry. 

Work Plan for Mentorship

Professional Goals I would Like To Obtain in the next 2-3 years

  • To reach over 100,000 dollars in sales my first year in Facility Branding.

  • Grow the business demographic to the following regions by 2020: Tennessee, Virginia, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina

  • Be named as 30 under 30 most successful business people in Knoxville before the age of 25. 

For my mentorship, the president of the company and I sat down and wrote down some expectations and goals for this start-up venture within the first year and included:

  • The employee will be expected to work anywhere from 30-40 hours a week with the exception of a school assignment.

  • I will be responsible for contacting and reaching out to different vendors regarding printing, installation, and creative design. 

  • By the end of the first, fiscal year I will be expected to have closed over 12 branding deals worth over 10,000 dollars. 

  • I will be expected to create marketing materials and participate in charity events for the company to help with brand equity and networking. 

  • The employee will be expected to meet with at least 3 new costumers a week in order to build a network and business.

  • I will go over to the University of Tennessee Graphics and Design Department twice a week to mentor under a man by the name of Kenton Page to learn Adobe applications that are a necessity for Facility Branding. 

  • In addition, to these responsibilities, the employee will need to learn the company's computer system and be able to place orders for the future.

 

Because I am the head of this department I will meet with Jed Dance, our president, to set up new goals and expectations of the growth of the company and where we need to improve.
